Banners Engages

engages web headerOne of the most important responsibilities of Banners is to engage local students in educational programming through arts and humanities performances.

This programming helps to ensure that children develop creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. Studies have also shown that children who are involved in the arts are more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, be elected to class office within their schools and win awards for school attendance.

Banners provides educational outreach efforts that include presentations by artists visiting our local public and private schools, as well as the public library. These presentations include performances as well as educational components. Each year, more than 17,000 students reap the benefits of having Banners educational outreach performances as part of their learning environment. With approximately 60 outreach programs annually, Banners brings arts and humanities to K-12 schools throughout Calcasieu, Cameron and Jeff Davis Parishes and the students of McNeese State University.

Make a tax deductible gift to Banners Engages programming for area schools. OUR SWEEPSTAKES HAS ENDED. ANY DONATIONS NOW ARE APPRECIATED, BUT WILL NOT BE PART OF THE TICKET DRAWING.

For centuries magicians have used scientific principles to make people levitate in mid-air and vanish in the blink of an eye. Illusionist Bill Blagg’s one-of-a-kind educational experience, The Science of Magic, takes students on a rare, never-before-seen journey “behind the scenes” of the magic world. Students will discover firsthand how magicians use science to create the impossible! Bill’s comedy-filled, action-packed, presentation is highly interactive and makes science fun and exciting! Students will use the Scientific Method to levitate one of their teachers in mid-air and even learn how the science of reflection can make their homework magically disappear! In addition, Bill even performs some of his mind-blowing, grand-scale illusions with a scientific twist! Bill caps the show off with an incredible display of the water cycle by making it snow from his bare hands! Students will watch in amazement as science creates magic right before their very eyes!  If you are interested in signing your class up, please email us.
