Dr. Deborah Fitzgerald, faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, researches the history of agriculture and food in modern America, and the above topic is what she is currently writing about. Her other books are “The Business of Breeding: Hybrid Corn in Illinois, 1890-1940” and “Every Farm a Factory: The Industrial Ideal in American Agriculture.” She is a distinguished lecturer for the Organization of American Historians.
